Katharine Jefferts Schori is the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States. She is the first ever female Primate - the equivalent of an Archbishop - in the 500-year history of the Anglican Communion. Previously an oceanographer, she was ordained only in 1994. In 2001 she became Bishop of Nevada, where she piloted her own plane to remote parishes, proclaiming her message of reconciliation and peace. Now, as the leader of the Episcopal Church, she speaks to a far wider audience. Here, Jefferts Schori shares her views on issues of social justice, the role of the Church, personal relationships with God and the importance of building communities of peace. What are her passions and concerns? How might her leadership affect the future of the Anglican Church both in the United States and in the wider Anglican Communion? A Wing and A Prayer is a great way to get to know the exceptional woman who will lead the Episcopal Church through the challenges of the next nine years.
