La presente edici n es una traducci n completamente nueva y que proviene de la nueva edici n castellana de la Instituci n de la religi n cristiana (III, vi-x, Libros Desaf o, 2011). De la vida del cristiano nos abre una ventana hacia una espiritualidad que nos mantiene con los ojos bien puestos en Jes s pero con los pies plantados en tierra, espiritualidad que contrasta con aquellas que enfatizan la meditaci n, la m stica y el escapismo terrenal. El Se or nos ha puesto donde tenemos que estar hasta que nos vuelva a llamar , nos dice Calvino. Esta obra ejerci una buena influencia en los ltimos 500 a os en el mundo anglosaj n y, en especial, en los Pa ses Bajos. Sin embargo, en el orbe hispano, su influencia ha sido m nima. We are pleased to present this brief work by John Calvin, originally titled De vita hominis christiani in Latin and De la vie de l'homme chr tien in French. This edition is a completely new translation derived from the new Spanish edition of the Institutes of the Christian Religion (III, vi x, Libros Desaf o, 2011). On the Christian Life opens a window onto a spirituality that keeps our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus while our feet remain planted on the ground, a spirituality that contrasts with those emphasizing meditation, mysticism and earthly escapism. The Lord has placed us where we must be until He calls us again, Calvin tells us. This work exercised a strong influence over the past 500 years in the English-speaking world and especially in the Netherlands. However, in the Spanish-speaking world its influence has been minimal. We pray, therefore, that our Almighty God may use this brief work to refresh minds, encourage the Christian vocation of believers and reach unbelievers with His grace.
