The Book of Esther is the only Bible book besides Ruth that is named after a woman. It is also unique in that it never mentions the name of God. Yet the theme of the book is profound: God in his providential wisdom has power over individuals and history. And in Esther's case, God does so through a girl that has gone her own way.
