A field guide for any Christian trying to faithfully navigate the complexities of the world. –Rick Warren, founding pastor of Saddleback Church
The ground beneath your feet is not accidental. The street, the city, the community you inhabit—it’s the stage God has set for your calling to engage the world, not escape it.
And yet, engaging the world around us has never felt more complicated. Our world is beautiful and broken. Exhilarating and exhausting. Life is filled with detours and dead ends. It’s delicious and painful, glorious and messy. And God has a way of speaking to us at the most inopportune times, calling us to show up and be light right in the middle of it.
In Hope Made Visible, Brannon Shortt invites us to embrace the untamed world in which God has placed us. The issue is that too many have opted to flee or fight, and many of us have become fatigued or frozen. Brannon challenges us to reject the false choice between retreating from culture and waging war against it, to practice missional living and discipleship right where we are, and to discover a more joyful, faithful way to engage the world.
But how? Hope Made Visible will help you learn how to:
- embrace your unique mission as one sent by God into the world around you
- see culture as a place of opportunity for God to work through our faithfulness
- find common ground without losing your way
- speak honestly about truth in a way that doesn’t alienate others
This is your call: to make hope visible exactly where you are.
