What might it mean us to be formed as disciples not only by the church but also by the world? In Political Formation Jenny Leith argues that our understanding of how formation works is outdated and oversimplified. Our assumption that we are formed in only one direction - by the church for the world - takes no account of when this process goes wrong - when formation in the church becomes malformation. Leith proposes an alternative understanding of formation - one which sees the church as not only ethically formative, but also in constant need of being formed by the world.
