Worship is our right, fitting, and delightful response to God the Creator, Redeemer, and
Consummator. Jonathan Gibson and Mark Earngey have greatly assisted the church in this
high calling through their compilation of a wide range of liturgies from the Reformation, newly
translated into modern English from the original German, Dutch, French, Latin, and early
modern English. Although these liturgies were written almost 500 years ago, their structure,
language, and rhythm continue to communicate the gospel in Word and Sacrament today. This
exhaustive work will be invaluable to pastors and worship leaders as they seek to craft public
worship services in the great tradition of the early Reformers. It is also a wonderful resource for
individuals to use devotionally to guide their own prayers.
